
Call for Nominations of Candidates from Central Africa Region with Expertise in Rice Private Sector Entrepreneurship to Serve on AfricaRice Board of Trustees
Preamble: The AfricaRice Board of Trustees identifies and appoints members from member states of AfricaRice, and from the international community. Prospective members of the Board from member states are expected to be formally nominated by the relevant ministerial authority of the candidate’s country. All nominations will be assessed by the Board of Trustees of AfricaRice prior to the appointment. A Board member nominated by a member state or from the international community serves intuitu personae – and not representing his/her country or organization on the Board.
Specifics of this call: The Board currently seeks nominations for prospective Board candidates with expertise and track record in rice private sector entrepreneurship/practitioner from AfricaRice’s member countries in the Central Africa region. The current private sector practitioner on the Board from a different region will be rotating out of the Board by the end of March 2025.
AfricaRice Board of Trustees and Management believe that in the rice value chain, private enterprises can play a crucial role, from seed production and distribution to processing and marketing, and they can contribute to increased productivity and to food security. Private sector agricultural businesses are critical for scaling new and potentially environmentally friendly technologies.
Submission of candidate’s dossiers: Interested candidates are expected to submit their detailed CV and a letter of nomination from the relevant government authority not lower than a Minister or his/her designated representative by April 30, 2025.
